Our J-1 Visa Programs

Each program provides a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrant hospitality and tourism industry in the United States. Tailored for young professionals and graduate students, these programs allow you to gain hands-on experience, enhance your professional skills, and expand your global network.

Work and Travel

Participants in the J-1 Work and Travel Program typically gain employment in seasonal industries such as hospitality, tourism, retail, and entertainment. The program lasts up to 4 months, usually from May to September but the exact start and end dates will vary depending on the employer and your academic schedule.

Requirements:​

  • Be between 18 and 28 years old.

  • Be currently enrolled as a full-time student at a university, college, or equivalent institution.

  • You must be a full-time student in your home country.

  • Have sufficient English proficiency to communicate in the workplace and everyday life in the U.S.

Internship

The J-1 Internship Program provides participants with the chance to gain valuable, hands-on experience in their field of study. Participants typically secure internships in industries such as hospitality, business, engineering and healthcare. Interns work alongside professionals, learning from experienced mentors and gaining practical skills that enhance their career prospects. The internship can last between 3 to 12 months depending on the chosen program and job offer.

Requirements:

  • Be between 18 and 30 years old.

  • Be a full-time student currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution (college or university) or have graduated in the last 12 months.

  • You must be in the process of obtaining a degree or have completed one within the last 12 months.

  • Your internship must be directly related to your current field of study.

  • Have sufficient English language skills to communicate effectively in the workplace.

Traineeship

The J-1 Traineeship Program offers professionals the opportunity to acquire valuable, hands-on experience in their field of expertise while immersing themselves in U.S. culture. Trainees collaborate with industry leaders to refine their skills, learn best practices, and understand the processes employed by top American companies, all while gaining a broader global perspective.

Requirements:

  • Be between 21 and 39 years old.

  • Have at least 5 years of work experience in the field of the traineeship

OR

  • A degree or professional certificate from a foreign post-secondary academic institution AND at least one year of prior related work experience outside the U.S.

  • Have sufficient English proficiency to communicate effectively in the workplace.
